Alan R. Hibben
Alan retired as a Managing Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of RBC Capital Markets in December of 2014. He had also held the position of Head, Strategy & Development at RBC Financial Group. In this role, he was responsible for corporate strategy as well as mergers and acquisitions, and development activities for the Bank. He was also Chief Executive Officer, RBC Capital Partners, the private equity investment arm of RBC Financial Group. Since December 2014, he has been an advisor to governments and to several large public and private companies on strategic and other matters. Through his advisory and investment company, Shakerhill Partners Ltd., he provides financial and strategic advisory service, as well as expert witness services..

Provided strategy consulting advice to the Province of Ontario with respect to the privatization and IPO of Hydro One Inc. as well as the sale of Hydro One Brampton as part of the creation of Alectra.
Provided financial advisory and strategy consulting services to the Province of Ontario with respect to the restructuring and sale of Stelco Inc. as well as the structuring and management of assets that were spun out of the restructuring and CCAA to the pension funds for employees of Stelco Inc.
Provided advice to the Province of Ontario with respect to certain post-CCAA financial support to Algoma Steel
Provided strategy consulting and advice to the Province of Ontario with respect to financial contributions (in conjunction with the Government of Canada) to the Wataynikaneyap transmission line project north of Pickle Lake. Financing complete, project underway.
Provided an expert opinion with respect to the work conducted by a major Canadian investment dealer in a takeover context. Fee dispute. WON at trial.
Provided an expert opinion with respect to financial advice and governance pertaining to a transaction that was disputed by a shareholder. Settled.
Provided pro bono advice to this Canadian Crown Corporation with respect to emergency funding programs to support Canadian business during COVID-19. Completed.
